#14 – Before/After: Golden
Not much to say about this one – just a quick play with colour.
I don’t know if I’m really going to classify this as one of my 30 – I’m undecided yet.
Earlier this week I purchased The Color Course from The Color Lab in the hopes that I may finally get a grasp on colour grading. It’s a lovely little series, and I’m planning on buying the sister course shortly.
This quick little image by William Mitchell is just an outcome of working through the course – I just so very wish I could get skin colours right – I still don’t think I have my finger on it yet. However I vow to continue trying – I have to get it some day yes? Got any tips?
I realise that the image is different sizes. I had to crop it to straighten the horizon, which was bugging me.
I mostly played with the selective colour adjustment layer in Photoshop – and had great fun with it. Hence… the grass is now dead. Actually, I was just going for a more of an analogous colour scheme. I also wanted a more golden image – possibly I went overboard – but I’m happy with it.
There are a few things that are bugging me though: I still don’t have skin tones down, and the strap on her singlet blouse is really sticking out. I tried to tone it down – but I couldn’t exactly figure it out. I’m sure though that after I revisit it in the future with more skills under my belt I will get and it be like “oh, you silly girl, that’s so easy!”
Anyhow, that’s all for now. If you have any suggestions on what I can change or do better, please feel free to comment below. Same goes with if you have any questions – just let me know! 🙂
Hope you have a great day, and until next time!
